Sports & Recreation Grant: Winter 2024 Application Stream

Eligibility Period: Receipts must be dated between August 16, 2023 – October 31, 2024.
Receipts after this date will be accepted during our Spring Application stream.
This program is designed to provide financial reimbursement for registration and equipment costs for Métis Youth aged of 5-17 participating in sports and recreational activities. Citizens of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government are eligible to receive up to $500 with proof of enrollment and receipts. The online portal will only accept ONE application per eligible Métis Youth.
Note: The application process is approximately 30 days – we ask applicants to refrain from following up on your application during this time. The Sports & Recreation grant will be administered on a first-come, first served basis until all allocated funds have been dispersed. Below, you will find application requirements. Please take the time to read through each thoroughly before applying.
Applications will not be approved with missing documentation or incomplete information and you will not be able to edit your application once submitted. Reimbursement is not guaranteed, and all documentation must be uploaded at time of application.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
A. Must be a current resident of Alberta
B. Parent and/or Youth must be a citizen of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government
C. Must be a Youth between the ages of 5-17 at the time of application
D. Demonstrate a financial need for sport or extracurricular activity reimbursement
E. Provide receipts and/or registration documents in a sport or recreational activity dated between August 16, 2023 – October 31, 2024
F. Must successfully complete the online application form
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Photo ID for proof of Alberta residency
- Otipemisiwak Métis Government (MNA) Citizenship Card
- Receipts for EQUIPMENT and/or REGISTRATION (Receipts must be dated between August 16, 2023 – October 31, 2024.)
- Children’s long-form birth certificate – Required if Youth does not have an MNA card but the parent does
