This Fall, the Métis Nation of Alberta will be holding District Captain and District Council elections for the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, October 29 – November 5, 2024.

By Notice of the Chief Electoral Officer, the candidates in the 2024 Métis District Election for the Otipemisiwak Métis Government have been determined in accordance with Part V of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government Elections and Referenda Act.

EXTENDED NOMINATION PERIOD RESULTS: Following the conclusion of the Extended Nomination period, the Chief Electoral Officer has determined that the following offices have no certified candidates.

  • District 12 – Fishing Lake/Elizabeth Metis Settlements Sub-District
  • District 12 – District Youth Councillor

As a result, the Chief Electoral Officer must open nominations for the St. Paul-Cold Lake Métis District to hold a by-election for a Youth Councillor position and a District Councillor position each for the Bonnyville area and Fishing Lake Metis Settlement/ Elizabeth Metis Settlement. Once a date is set for the by-election, the Chief Electoral Officer will issue a Public Notice indicating the date on which interested candidates may submit a nomination package.
