January 31, 2025
Caregivers carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Many of them attend medical appointments, prepare meals, help with finances/personal medical care, and provide transportation or home-living support to a loved one.
If any of these sound like part of your routine, we can help!
The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is proud to host Caregivers Alberta’s award-winning COMPASS for the Caregiver program. Facilitated by our Community Wellness Coordinator, Gina Levasseur, this program is designed to help caregivers balance their own well-being with the challenges of providing care.
Join us on Fridays starting January 31, 2025, for online sessions through Zoom from 9 – 11:30 a.m.
Space is limited. Register before January 22.
Sessions will cover four modules:
Module 1: Being a Caregiver
Learn to recognize your strengths, needs, and challenges as a caregiver, and take pride in your role. You will examine your emotions and feelings, and find a new perspective on challenging thoughts and response patterns.
Module 2: Managing Your Stress
Understand how stress can lead to burnout and learn what you can do to prevent or recover from burnout. We’ll explore how to shift our mindset and seek balance in caregiving.
Module 3: Balancing Relationships
Improve your communication skills, learn to identify what you need, and find ways to ask for help to share the care. You will work on one of the caregiver’s hardest hurdles—regaining your identity as a whole person by taking care of yourself first.
Module 4: Navigating the Journey
Increase your confidence in accessing services, reflect on your caregiving journey, and plan for the future to avoid the stress of uncertainty.
