Environment & Climate Change

To preserve Métis traditional and cultural ways of life, the MNA strives to reduce our carbon footprint and the damaging effects of climate change.

Our Environment Team is responsible for our environment monitoring and conservation efforts, including Askîy, the MNA’s community-driven environment monitoring initiative.

Our Climate Team is responsible for delivering the MNA Climate Change Action Plan, including collaborative projects related to renewable energy, energy and sustainability, and citizen engagement and policy.

Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP)

Our five core strategic goals:

Reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our institutions and provide our citizens with the tools to reduce their household GHG emissions,
Create economic opportunities for our institutions and citizens,
Expand our capacity to implement climate change programs (e.g. expertise, resources, staff, tools),
Increase understanding of climate change, and
Encourage social change through action.
