INTAKE
This is the first point of contact for Métis Albertans and individuals seeking justice information and resources.
INTAKE FORM
CONSENT TO RELEASE
When Métis individuals reach out for support, we gather information about their justice system involvement, personal details, and current situation. This allows us to assess their needs and determine the most effective next steps. Based on this assessment, individuals are either connected to programs or services within the Justice Department, or, if their needs fall outside our scope, referred to appropriate external community resources.
OUR SCOPE:
- Youth Matters
- Family Matters
- Criminal Matters

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROGRAM (Lac La Biche)
This program brings together those affected by crime to repair harm, rebuild trust, and restore safety through collaborative decision-making. Note* currently in Lac La Biche, Alberta only.
Restorative justice (RJ) recognizes that crime causes harm to people, relationships, and communities. This approach focuses on repairing that harm by bringing together those affected and those responsible to discuss the root causes, circumstances, and impacts of the offence. It offers a non-adversarial, non-retributive process that promotes meaningful accountability, reparation of harm, and the rebuilding of trust. By involving community members, RJ fosters understanding, promotes healing, and strengthens relationships – laying the foundation for healthier, safer communities.

OUR INITIATIVES
Mamawi Pimohtetan — “Walking Together”
Mamawi Pimohtetan — “Walking Together” in Cree — is a 12-week men’s circle where Métis men come together in a safe, supportive space to share, learn, and be heard. Guided by a Métis facilitator and grounded in the Métis River Teachings — Respect, Love, Kindness, Strength, Sharing, Balance, Caring, Courage, Honesty, Mother Earth, Patience, and Tolerance — the program empowers participants with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to heal, communicate with compassion, and build healthy, respectful relationships. Through this journey, men strengthen their connection to culture, self, and community, breaking cycles of family violence and walking forward with purpose.
To join, you will need: any device with internet, camera*, and microphone. Computers are recommended to view the group properly. *Camera On is not mandatory but helps create a safe space.
