Looking to make a change in your nicotine use but aren’t sure where to go for support? We’re here to help you.

Join us Tuesday, September 10 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. for the Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) Program Info Session. This session will walk you through the steps required to enroll in the NRT Program.

Get your nicotine-related questions answered by our Community Prevention Practitioner, Kyla, who will help start your journey of change on the right foot.

Attendees who complete the info session and two additional meetings with our Community Prevention Practitioner are eligible to enroll in the NRT Program and receive a $500 Alberta Blue Cross Benefits Card for Nicotine Replacement Therapies and Cessation Medications.

Take a QuitCore break from October 16 to December 18. This special daytime edition of the in-demand program will run on Zoom, Wednesdays, from noon to 1 p.m.

If you are a Métis Nation within Alberta Citizen, aged 18 and older and seeking to reduce and/or quit your nicotine use, register today by emailing khachey@metis.org.

In partnership with Alberta Health Services, we offer group intervention support so you can reach your nicotine-related goals.

This 6-week program is available to Métis Nation within Alberta Citizens aged 18 and older seeking to reduce and/or quit their nicotine use.

Citizens who complete the program will:

  • Receive a “QuitKit”
  • Become eligible for a $500 Alberta Blue Cross Benefit Card for Nicotine Replacement Therapies.

Evening sessions run 6–8 p.m. on Zoom starting October 16. Register by October 15 by emailing KHachey@metis.org. Please include your Métis Citizenship ID number.

Ready to make a change in your nicotine use?

Start your journey with the QuitCore Land-based program to reduce and/or quit your tobacco use (vaping excluded).

Métis Crossing

Join the Otipemisiwak Métis Government Health Department at Metis Crossing for the QuitCore Land-Based Retreat. In partnership with Alberta Health Services, find the support you need on your journey to change your nicotine habits.

Learn through guided sessions on topics such as:

  • Importance, Confidence, and Readiness
  • Physical Dependence
  • Identifying & Coping with Triggers
  • Recognizing & Responding to Stress
  • Building your support system and resources
  • And much more.

During the sessions, you will also take part in cultural activities to help enhance your learning experience. You will have the opportunity to connect with others on a similar journey while enjoying activities such as a plant walk, garden tour, making a medicine pouch, and participating in archery or axe throwing.

Attendance is mandatory for the entire weekend in order to be eligible for a $500 benefits card. If any portion is missed, you will not be eligible for the $500.

If you are a Citizen of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government who is over 18 and looking to change your tobacco habits, Register today by emailing khachey@metis.org with:

  • Means of transportation

Registrants must arrive by 5:00 p.m. Friday when programming begins and should notify staff during registration of any issues walking on uneven ground.

Citizens must provide their own transportation to and from Metis Crossing. Mileage will be provided at .35/Km.

Register before October 14. Registering does not mean you have a secured spot. Applicants will be notified of their approval.

Virtual ChangeCore Peer-Led Group Support

 

Do you smoke, vape, or use smokeless tobacco and wish you had group support to help you reduce, quit, or maintain your quit? ChangeCore may be the right fit for you.

ChangeCore is a non-clinical, peer-led, weekly support group for those in any stage of change.

6:30 -8 p.m.
ZOOM

What to know about ChangeCore:

  • Non-judgmental, community led, and culturally-safe support.
  • No requirement to attend every meeting.
  • Any stage of change is welcome, including if you’re still using commercial tobacco.
  • Make community connections, get and stay motivated, increase your knowledge and skills about reducing or quitting your tobacco use.
  • Each meeting will have different theme.
  • Attend 2+ meetings a month to enter a prize draw. Two prizes drawn the last Monday of every month.

Any device with internet, camera*, and microphone. Computers are recommended to view the group properly.

*Camera On is not mandatory but helps create a safe space.
