For our chronic disease research, we are specifically looking at Type 1 and 2 diabetes and the impact on the Métis community as part of our Transitions in Care project.

In collaboration with the University of Alberta, we explored the experiences of Métis Albertans living with diabetes, access to diabetes care, and other experiences related to its symptoms and treatment. We achieved this through an online survey in 2020 and one-on-one interviews in 2021.

Now, our team is going through all we’ve learned and putting that information into a report. This report will help us to better understand what resources are needed for Métis Albertans living with Type 1 or 2 diabetes.

Together, we can pave the way to a healthier future for all.

This project is made possible through funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
