Conservation Land Access Dashboard
The Conservation Land Access Dashboard (CLAD) is an online tool you can use to find conservation sites near you that best support traditional Métis cultural activities such as harvesting, gathering, and connecting with the land! Our dashboard will connect you with over 1,000 conservation sites across Alberta, including those managed by organizations such as the Alberta Conservation Association, Nature Conservancy of Canada, and the Edmonton & Area Land Trust. CLAD helps you filter conservation sites by location and permitted activities such as: hunting, fishing, plant gathering, camping, ATVs, horseback riding, and more. CLAD was developed in response to Métis Citizens’ concerns regarding barriers to land use activities and access.
The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is working to address Citizens’ concerns by highlighting conservation lands Citizens can currently access through the dashboard. We also continue our work to establish Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs) in Alberta, which will create new land access opportunities for Citizens.
Please note CLAD is a tool designed to help you identify conservation lands you can access. While it provides you with summaries for each conservation site, it is not the primary source of information. It is advised to confirm CLAD information is correct with managing organizations for sites of interest before engaging in land-use activities.
