Palliative and end-of-life care (PEOLC) is essential to supporting individuals and their families through life-limiting illnesses and end-of-life transitions. Métis Albertans face unique cultural, social, and systemic barriers to accessing care across the health system, including in palliative and end-of-life settings. Despite a growing recognition of the importance of culturally responsive healthcare, the specific needs and priorities of Métis Albertans in palliative and end-of-life care remain largely unexplored. Similarly, with the growing availability and utilization of medical assistance in dying (MAID) across Canada, it is imperative to understand how MAID is experienced and navigated within Métis communities. In order to better support our community, we need to hear from you! Tell us about your experience with palliative and end-of-life care and be entered to win 1 of 5 $250 gift cards.
You are being asked to participate because you are a Métis Albertan, or a person who provides care for a Métis Albertan aged 18 and older. Your perspectives, insights, and stories are critical in informing the design of a system that better supports Métis Albertans navigating PEOLC services.
Our survey seeks to understand Métis Albertans’ lived experiences and the realities of PEOLC in Alberta. It also helps explore Métis Albertans’ unique cultural, social, and systemic barriers to accessing PEOLC across the health system. The survey is voluntary, and you can choose to end it at any time.
