The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is pleased to welcome world leaders to the Homeland of the Métis Nation within Alberta for the 2025 G7 Summit in Kananaskis.
As the global community gathers to discuss pressing challenges, such as building energy security, securing partnerships of the future, and protecting our communities and the world, we remind leaders that true progress must include Métis voices at every level.
The Métis have called these lands home for generations. We bring with us a proud history of trade, diplomacy, and leadership—values that continue to guide us today as we build new relationships at home and abroad.
“On behalf of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and the Métis citizens we represent, I welcome the G7 leaders to our Homeland here in Alberta,” said President Andrea Sandmaier. “As global leaders work to address the defining challenges of our time, we urge them to ensure that Métis Peoples are not just participants, but true partners in these conversations. The future we are building must be one of shared prosperity, respect for Indigenous rights, and reconciliation.”
We wish the delegates a productive summit and look forward to seeing meaningful commitments that include Indigenous Peoples in shaping the path forward.
