In December of 2014 a contract was awarded to Alberta PowerLine L.P. for a 500-kV Transmission Line Project. The proposed transmission line will run 100km from a new substation in the Thickwoods area (approx. 25km west of Fort McMurray) to the Livock substation located in the Wabasca area. From there it will run 400km to the Sunnybrook substation in the Wabamun area.

The MNA is hosting two open house events for Region 1 members to discuss the proposed Fort McMurray West 500-kV Transmission Line project. APL has been consulting with Métis locals in Region 1 and wishes to speak with MNA members of the region not associated with a Local regarding any specific areas of concern and potential impacts they may have with the project. Each open house will begin with a meal at 5pm followed by presentations and a discussion period at 6pm.

Please RSVP your attendance by email to tpeters@metis.org or by phone to 780-455-2200 Ext. 206
