The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) vs. Canada case was won on March 8, 2013. The Supreme Court judged that the Manitoba Act 1870 had failed to provide adequate land provisions for Métis as promised by the Crown in s.31. This Supreme Court ruling was significant as it succeeded in recognizing injustices committed by the Crown against Métis and in turn secured future negotiations between the Federal Government and the MMF pertaining to modern day Métis land claims.
