Eligibility:
- Otipemisiwak Métis Government-approved harvester
- 16 years of age or older
- Proof of Alberta residency (driver’s license or provincial ID)
- Proof of purchase (receipt must be dated between April 1, 2025, and November 28, 2025—no exceptions)
Eligible for Reimbursement (items and butchering relief support cannot be combined)
Butchering of Wild Game
- Invoice must say wild game and must have butcher’s company letterhead
- Cutting and wrapping only, which includes grinding wild meat into hamburger
- Does not include sausage or jerky making
Eligible Harvesting Items
- Ammunition – No ammunition under .23 caliber and no reloading supplies.
- Deep Freeze – Not a refrigerator with a freezer.
- Compound Bow and Arrows -No practice arrows.
- Crossbows and Arrows intended for hunting (minimum 250 fps).
- Meat Grinder
- Meat Slicer
- Meat Smoker – Not a BBQ-style smoker.
- Gill Net for fishing
- Prairie Ice Jigger for net fishing
- Ice Fishing Shelter (tent)
- Ice Auger
- Ice Saw
- Fishing Gear: (Rod and reels only! No fish finders, underwater cameras or salmon rods.)
IMPORTANT:
- Please refrain from questions about eligibility for items not listed above. Only the items listed above will be eligible for reimbursement.
- Do not apply for items not listed. Applications for items not listed above will be automatically denied.
- Please only apply for harvesting items OR butchering. Applications that apply for both will be automatically denied.
- Shipping costs are not eligible for reimbursement.
