We’re excited to invite you to a special celebration of Métis language, culture, and community—Michif in the Valley: pîkoskiwiyahk îwâyatinâk, hosted by the Otipemisiwak Métis Government’s Language Revitalization Team.

Edmonton Valley Zoo
Enjoy free admission to the zoo and a full evening of fun, family-friendly activities, workshops, performances, and cultural sharing, including:
- A zoo-wide Michif scavenger hunt
- Michif storytelling and language games
- Jigging and language workshops
- Michif plant walks guided by community Knowledge Holders
- Language Holder’s Tea-Time: a space to visit, listen, and learn
- Live performances from an incredible lineup, including:
- The Kikino Northern Lites Dancers
- JUNO-nominated fiddler Brianna Lizotte
- Two-time Batoche Jigging Competition Champion Kenton Alook
- Acclaimed fiddler and folk singer-songwriter Darla Daniels
- Fiddler Jon Simpson
- …and other young and up-and-coming performers, including a recent Métis Fest winner!
Amazing prizes will be given out during our two draw times, scheduled for 5:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Prizes include Nintendo Switches, drones, digital cameras, karaoke machines, Beats earbuds, LEGO sets, and more!
