Start your journey with the QuitCore Land-based program to reduce and/or quit your tobacco use (vaping excluded).
October 18 — 20
Join the Otipemisiwak Métis Government Health Department at Metis Crossing for the QuitCore Land-Based Retreat. In partnership with Alberta Health Services, find the support you need on your journey to change your nicotine habits.
Learn through guided sessions on topics such as:
- Importance, Confidence, and Readiness
- Physical Dependence
- Identifying & Coping with Triggers
- Recognizing & Responding to Stress
- Building your support system and resources
- And much more.
During the sessions, you will also take part in cultural activities to help enhance your learning experience. You will have the opportunity to connect with others on a similar journey while enjoying activities such as a plant walk, garden tour, making a medicine pouch, and participating in archery or axe throwing.
Attendance is mandatory for the entire weekend in order to be eligible for a $500 benefits card. If any portion is missed, you will not be eligible for the $500.
If you are a Citizen of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government who is over 18 and looking to change your tobacco habits, Register today by emailing khachey@metis.org with:
- Your name
- Citizenship number
- Date of birth
- Full mailing address
- Dietary restrictions
- Mobility restrictions
- Means of transportation
Registrants must arrive by 5:00 p.m. Friday when programming begins and be physically able to walk on uneven ground.
Citizens must provide their own transportation to and from Metis Crossing. Mileage will be provided at .35/Km.
Register before October 14. Registering does not mean you have a secured spot. Applicants will be notified of their approval.
