Embark on your journey, guided by community support and expert facilitators from the Weaving Wellness Centre in our Holistic Wellness Circles series. This six-week program is designed to foster healing, resilience, and empowerment through discussion and reflection from a Métis perspective on mental health and wellness.
Open to Citizens of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, aged 18+.

Overview
Circle 1: Holistic Well-being
January 16, 2025
In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the concepts of holistic well-being. Reflection and discussion will be centred around exploring participants’ understandings of well-being, particularly on the wellness needs of Métis people. A Métis-specific tool, “Métis Wellness Wheels,” will be shared with participants, who will be invited to identify and reflect on their personal experiences of wellness.
Circle 2: Meditation and Mindfulness
January 23, 2025
In this circle, concepts and practices related to mindfulness and meditation will be introduced, including mindfulness skills and a guided meditation exercise. Online recordings of mindfulness and meditation exercises will be shared with participants to practice independently.
Circle 3: Self-care
January 30, 2025
The focus of this circle will centre on the importance of self-care and practices for well-being. Participants will be invited to identify their self-care practices to maintain their wellness.
Circle 4: Traditional Plants Workshop
February 6, 2025
In this workshop, a Métis knowledge carrier will share different teachings and knowledge of plant medicines. Participants will be asked during the previous session if there were specific plants they would like to learn about. Space will be created for participants to ask questions and engage in shared dialogue and learning together.
Circle 5: Land-Based Healing
February 13, 2025
This workshop invites participants to explore the therapeutic power of reconnecting to the land. We will discuss the importance of cultural practices tied to the land and reflect on the role of reconnecting with the land in maintaining mental health and fostering a sense of identity and resilience as Métis people. Participants will be provided tangible tools for reconnecting with the land and ancestors through meditation and visualization. This workshop is designed to empower participants to find solace and connection through Métis land-based healing practices.
Circle 6: Storytelling
February 20, 2025
This workshop invites participants to explore the relationship between storytelling, cultural narratives, and mental health within the Métis community. We will explore how oral traditions have been integral in shaping the cultural identity of Métis people and fostering our resilience. We will also understand how sharing personal stories contributes to our mental health and be immersed in the rich oral traditions of Métis storytelling. There will be space for participants to share their own stories or reflections.
