Do you have concerns about the well-being of animals and plants in Alberta? Share your thoughts at one of the Environment and Climate Change Department’s species at risk engagement sessions! Register through this page to sign up for the High Level engagement session on April 15.

Interested MNA Citizens are invited to discuss the plants and animals that are important to them, share any concerns they have, and learn about species at risk legislation.

Families are welcome to attend, and we’ll have activities for children at each engagement. Please note that dedicated childcare is not available.

Those travelling to attend the engagements may be eligible to receive stipends to cover costs. More information will be shared with those registered closer to the date.

What is a species?

A species is a group of individuals with shared characteristics. We usually think of animals when we hear the word “species,” but a species can be any group of living things—fish, mammals, plants, fungi, reptiles, insects, birds, and more!

What is a species at risk?

A species at risk is a species that has been formally labeled under federal or provincial legislation as being threatened, endangered, or at risk of disappearing or declining in numbers. At these engagement sessions, we will be discussing species that are labeled as species at risk, as well as any other plants or animals that are of concern to Citizens.

For those who are travelling to attend, we are happy to provide a travel stipend of $50 if you are travelling 50-99 km or $100 if your journey is over 100 km.
