Rupertsland Institute – Métis Centre of Excellence
Rupertsland Institute’s (RLI) vision is for a skilled, knowledgeable, and self-reliant Métis Nation and is integral to enhancing the self-sufficiency and well-being of Alberta Métis through quality education, training and research.
RLI offers programs, services, and information to Métis people in the following areas through a network of offices across Alberta.
RLI holds the triple mandate in the areas of:

- Research
Since its creation in 2010 and in support of its vision and mandate, RLI has been developing programs and services that embrace the principles of:
- Labour market self-sufficiency
- Informed decision-making
- Strategic partnerships
- Lifelong learning

Rupertsland Centre for Métis Research (RCMR)
Rupertsland Centre for Métis Research (RCMR) was established in May 2011 under the Faculty of Native Studies at the University of Alberta.
RCMR serves as an academic research centre specifically for issues concerning Métis people, rights, and history. A leading priority for RCMR is developing a policy think tank. The goals and objectives of the academic research centre include:
- The formation of local, provincial, and national connections with Métis communities;
- Building research capacity to advance Métis-specific research;
- Training and employing student researchers.
