Looking to shift your relationship with nicotine?
Take the first step with the Land‑Based QuitCore Program, designed to support you in reducing or quitting commercial tobacco use.
When: May 8-10, 2026
Where: Métis Crossing
Join the Otipemisiwak Métis Government Health Department at Métis Crossing for a three‑day, Land‑based QuitCore Program. In partnership with Primary Care Alberta, this program will help you build the tools and strategies needed to change your relationship with tobacco.
Participants will learn through guided sessions on topics such as:
- Importance, confidence, and readiness
- Physical dependence
- Identifying and coping with triggers
- Recognizing and responding to stress
- Building your support system and accessing resources
- And much more
Throughout the weekend, you will also take part in cultural activities designed to enhance your learning, support connection with others on a similar path, and enjoy the beauty that Métis Crossing has to offer.
Attendance for the full weekend is mandatory to be eligible for a $500 Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) benefits card.
If you are a Citizen of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, over 18, and looking to change your commercial tobacco habits, you can register for our 2026 event by emailing tobaccoreduction@metis.org.
Participants must arrive by 5:00 p.m. on Friday when programming begins and should inform staff during registration of any challenges walking on uneven ground.
Citizens are responsible for their own transportation to and from Métis Crossing. Mileage will be reimbursed at $0.35/km.
