About the Facilitator:
Kirsten is a proud Métis woman who brings both western science and traditional knowledge to her work helping monitor and advocate for Alberta’s freshwater ecosystems and
building meaningful connections between science, community, and culture. Her work with fish monitoring on lakes helps support Albertan’s and she shares teachings with Métis
families about traditional harvesting practices, such as setting gill nets. She is passionate about honouring the role of Métis matriarchs, whose knowledge and resilience were essential to our people’s survival, and she works to ensure that these teachings are carried forward.
