Breaking the Silence – Empowering Métis Men and Boys

‘We will no longer be quiet, and the boys and men will be strong.’
Breaking the Silence is a province-wide initiative that brings together:
- Métis men
- Survivors of gender-based violence
- Families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Men and Boys (MMIMB)
- Gender-diverse individuals (2S+)
These gatherings create space for open dialogue, shared healing, and cultural connection around:
- The impacts of gender-based violence
- The loss of Indigenous men and boys
- The deep roots of intergenerational trauma
Community gatherings will be held in: Edmonton • Calgary • Grande Prairie • Lac La Biche • Lethbridge
Who’s invited? Métis Albertans aged 18+
What to expect:
- Culturally grounded, trauma-informed spaces for dialogue, reflection, and healing
- Support from Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and mental health professionals
