Statement from Secretary Lisa Wolfe: Congratulations to School Graduates
Posted on: Jun 26, 2025
Although summer is just around the corner, June represents a special month for students as many of you are about to graduate from school. As the Provincial Secretary responsible for Education, I want to share a message on behalf of your government with our Métis graduates.
Each of you has embarked on a unique journey filled with challenges, triumphs, and countless memories that have shaped you into the remarkable individuals you are today. I am proud of all of you.
As we celebrate you, we also pay tribute to the generations of Métis leaders, trailblazers, and visionaries who have paved the way for future success. I offer my heartfelt congratulations. Your achievements are not only a testament to your hard work and dedication but also a source of inspiration to those around you. As you embark on the next chapter of your lives, may you continue to honour your heritage, pursue your dreams, and make a positive impact on the world.
Métis students have access to financial support through scholarships and bursaries provided through Rupertsland Institute, an affiliate of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government. Métis Citizens can obtain funding for post-secondary education, apprenticeship programs, and certificate courses. Additional opportunities include the Belcourt Brousseau Métis Awards (through the Edmonton Community Foundation) and the Indspire Awards.
Let us celebrate the incredible accomplishments of all our graduates and the diversity that enriches our school community. As you move forward, remember the lessons you have learned, the friendships you have forged, and the values that guide you. Wherever life may take you, may you always carry with you the spirit of resilience, the strength of your convictions, and the pride of your Métis ancestors.
Best wishes for a bright future,
Secretary of Education, Training, Languages & Veterans Affairs
