Swearing-In of Newly Elected Officials Strengthens Otipemisiwak Métis Government

Posted on: May 16, 2025

The Otipemisiwak Métis Government proudly marked another significant milestone with the swearing-in of our newly elected officials. The ceremony welcomed three new individuals who bring a wealth of experience, dedication, and passion to their roles.

The newly sworn-in elected officials are:

  • Trevor Ward, Citizens’ Representative for the Rocky View Métis District
  • Cindy Moore, Citizens’ Representative for the Wabasca-Desmarais Métis District
  • Diane Kim Peredery, District Captain for the Wabasca-Desmarais Métis District

The newly elected District Captain and Citizens’ Representatives, along existing representatives of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, will play a critical role in advancing our self-government while also representing the voices and priorities of Métis Citizens across Alberta.

“Representative Ward, Representative Moore and Captain Peredery will play an important role as we continue to build our Métis government,” said Andrea Sandmaier, President of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government. “But piece by piece and step by step we are building a government that is not only informed and guided by generations of our ancestors, but will last for generations to come.”
The Otipemisiwak Métis Government extends its gratitude to Métis Citizens for their continued trust and support and congratulates its newest elected officials on their new positions. The new District Captain and the Citizens’ Representative look forward to building a legacy of resilience, progress, and opportunity for future generations.
