Our hearts break for the families, friends, and colleagues of Constables Brett Ryan and Travis Jordan, who tragically lost their lives yesterday. While we know that the relationship between Métis people and police has not always been positive, we send our deepest condolences to their loved ones as they grieve.

Our thoughts and prayers also go out to the mother of the suspect as she remains in hospital in serious condition. We wish her strength in her recovery.

Sadly, this incident is another reminder that domestic violence harms us all and we must do our part to change attitudes and mental health supports.
