Loved Métis musician, Richard Laboucan, passes away
Posted on: Jul 07, 2017
It is with deep sadness that Region VI Metis Nation has learned of the passing of Richard Laboucan.
Richard was a long time friend who was an excellent entertainer musician. He was awesome on the fiddle and many of our youth and members have jigged over the years to his tunes. He was also a very good guitar player. Whenever we had an event, Richard would come and play for us. He wasn`t all about the money, he would say whatever you pay me is fine with me.
He was a quiet guy who never said much, had a little smile that would light up once in a while, mostly when he would watch his granddaughter Mya jig. When we get together at Region VI Metis Nation, be it at our Annual Assembly, Elders tea, Metis Week celebrations, fiddling competitions, birthday parties, etc., we will think of Richard and miss him.
