Healing our Past. Celebrating Our Future.
Métis people have always had a relationship with the land. We are its stewards and protectors. We are the voice for the earth and the water. In return, Earth has given us remedies, teachings, and medicines that heal our mind, body, and soul. These medicines have carried us through hard times and have been passed down through generations.
The home remedies that our Kookums and aunties shared with us as kids—designed to strengthen our lungs, help our headaches, and soothe sore tummies—were quiet acts of resilience that kept our ancestors’ knowledge alive. The recipes and medicines they taught us have deepened our connection to the land today. As we gather for our 97th year, let us honour the land that has healed us time and time again and celebrate our bright futures ahead.
